Mr. Taylor's Dance Syllabus Dance One Grade Requirements Class Participation First Quarter/ Third Quarter 33% of grade Second Quarter/ Fourth Quarter 30% of grade Class Participation- Technique and choreography evaluations Points in etiquette will be deducted for: Tardiness Insubordination Blatant Laziness Eating or chewing gum Inappropriate jewelry Failure to remain focused on the task at hand (excessive silliness, laughing etc.) Changing or altering choreography (including mocking) Mouthieness and Negative Attitudes towards or about the choreography Sarcasm, backtalk and blatant disrespect or failure to participate will result in a 0 for the day Performances First Quarter/ Third Quarter 33% of grade Second Quarter/ Fourth Quarter 30% of grade Students will be graded on: Etiquette during rehearsals and performance Preparedness Execution of the movement Stage presence 33% or 33 points Research paper Research Paper on a Modern Dancer (1st quarter) 33% of grade Research Paper on a Modern Dance Company (3rd Quarter) 33% of grade Late papers will not be accepted after 3pm the day that it is due no exceptions 3 typed pages with a minimum of one page of pictures and one reference page. Students may have to give a oral report also. Research Paper on a Dance Movie Musical or Movie with Heavy Dancing in it (2nd Quarter) 20% of grade December 2, 2009. Research Paper and on a African American Arts & Entertainment class (3rd Quarter) 25% of grade. February 25, 2010. Research Paper on a Style of Music and the Dance Style that goes with it. 20% of grade (4th quarter) May 5, 2010. Late papers will not be accepted after 3pm the day that it is due no exceptions 3 typed pages with a minimum of one page of pictures and one reference page.
